The
Badminton Europe Council met in Malta last weekend for their final
meeting of 2008. A number of items were discussed following a busy
period of events and activities which saw Europe have more nations
represented at the badminton event of the Olympic Games than any other
continent. The Council also met with COMEBA’s Secretary General
John Attard, who resides in Malta.

The
5th EUSA Badminton Championships were held in Krakow, the city which
hosted the first EUSA Badminton championship in 2004. There were
110 participants from 14 Universities and 10 countries, who enjoyed
playing facilities of a very high standard, as well as a cultural
programme which enabled competitors to visit the world heritage sites
of Poland.

Badminton Europe is inviting Member Associations to bid to host next year’s European Badminton Summer School.
Member Associations have also been
invited to apply for Regional Project funding in 2009. The
closing date for both applications in 1 November 2009.
